European Street Theatre Festival – Faenza2019-08-27T14:03:31+00:00

European Street Theatre Festival

3-13 September 2019 // Faenza (ITALY)

Squares and streets become open-air theaters without walls, open to all.
MAUERSPRINGER is not just a Festival with a calendar of interesting street theater shows for the first time in Italy, but an opportunity to meet artists who weave thoughts and spectators who meet eyes on the Europe we live in these days. A Festival on what prevents us from seeing beyond the wall. Theaters and different languages that move in one direction: establish a true contact, to warm the heart, to free dreams. Jump the wall of indifference and open up to the world so that the earth on which our feet rest fills with footprints, traces of travel, falls, paths in a free landscape without borders.

How do Europeans treat their pets? Just look at the big business worth millions of Euro and you’ll understand. That’s the reason why a group of refugees and citizens decide to transform themselves into dogs, in the hope they might be noticed. The French theatre group has started to do street theatre in the early 70ies and still goes on creating funny, intelligent and critical shows and projects of active participation and political commitment.

Firma la Piazza! / Sign the square!

Workshop and performative action with Krzysztof Zwirblis

WORKSHOP HOURS

Saturday 7 hours 15.00-18.00
Sunday 8 hours 15.00-20.00

in collaboration with Fondazione Fornino Valmori and Museo Carlo Zauli

Letters of clay lay in the middle of the square. The performers start to move them forming words and questions about the past related to current events. The interaction between performers and people walking by suspends for a short while the indifference of everyday life.
Krzysztof Zwirblis is one of the co-founders of Akademia Ruchu founded in Warsaw in 1973. He realizes projects of active participation mingling visual arts and theatre that invades public spaces.
